Wow. I'm looking at the CNN coverage of the Presidential Inauguration. It's amazing to see such history taking place. This is such an important even of epic proportions. The crowds that are there must be so overwhelmed with a sense of awe and amazement. For me, sitting in front of my computer here in Canada, it is brilliant to watch. What it must be like to be there can only be indescribable.
I can't begin to imagine the extent and importance of what this particular day means for the African American populations in the US and abroad, in as much as I'm caucasian and Canadian, and I have no basis of that kind of historic discrimination. But the degree in which the importance I know is monumental.
I watch with baited breath to see this historic event taking place.
There is sooo much to be done, so many things to accomplish within the next four years. I look forward to what vision and imagination comes to fruition.
I got a notice on Facebook this evening that our sci-fi group's website is down. So I got out of bed (where I'd gotten the notice on my iPod), and gone down to check it out myself on the computers downstairs. Nope. Not working. No emails from web-hoster to say why it was down. Grrr.
So I go to my hotmail addy where I have all that information on the registration, domain name hosting contract, etc. and print it off. I KNOW my domain name and registration isn't due until mid May 2009. So I check the web-hosting service (amray.ca) only to see that THEIR website is down. SHITE! That's not good. So, I go to their head company's website and get a contact phone number for the webhost company [Amray Webhosting]. Call them.
Their servers are down for annual maintenance. Will be back up later tonight at the earliest, tomorrow morning by the latest. I know the site (my own plus the sci-fi group's website) is not top priority for everyone but you know, a nice little email general announcement to your clients from the webserver that your servers will be down between this time and that time would be helpful. But nothing. At anyrate, once I got it figured out, I got a notice sent out to 'my people' that the club's website (amongst many others) was temporarily down for annual maintenance. You know. The polite thing to do. ETA: Website was back up at 2100h.

And the BEST thing of all: I'm not working next Friday night. I don't have to set it up to watch later - even though I will, in addition to watching it as airing. Dammmnn. Sweet. :) I mean it's not like I don't already have the DVDs for 4.0, but it's the thrill of the day. :)
I went up to Futureshop today to pick up the new dvds for BSG Season 4.0. They had a Battlestar Galactica Season 4.0 4-Disc Special Edition Steelbook. It's a Futureshop Exclusive item - $37.99 Cdn. The scan of the cover [from my scanner] wasn't the greatest because it's a dark silver steel metallic case, and shiny. Doesn't scan that great. The set includes the steelbook casing. Yippee! Pretty, Shiny......
Mmm. I wonder how fast I can watch the eps before the Season 4.5 opener next Friday. Also, better clips for fanvid making without Sci-Fi or Space or SkyOne logos on the screen.
Special features incl.:
Unrated extended version of BSG: Razor; Behind the Scenes Featurettes [The Journey - Cylons: The Twelve - Season 4.5 The Untold Story-Untold - The Music of Battlestar Galactica - Caprica Sneak Preview]

Well, I don't know how much I'll actually be posting here, since I primarily use LiveJournal for my journalling/blogging purposes. However, I'll give it a go, and see what happens. Who knows, I might just end up using both.
